While Vietnam responded quickly to the COVID-19 pandemic at first, the second wave of community transmission emerged. Khalsa Aid stepped in to alleviate the shortage of medical supplies using a surplus of products that came as a result of other COVID-19 relief aid. This included face masks, oxygen concentrators, oximeters, breathing systems and more.
Khalsa Aid partnered with the NHS to deliver a surplus of medical products to Vietnam for emergency aid. The team created a mission plan and swiftly loaded all medical products onto a truck from Interken Freighters, where they were then taken to Heathrow airport to be flown to Vietnam. Local authorities received the products and distributed them to hospitals and frontline workers across the country.
One of Khalsa Aid's primary areas of focus is providing immediate relief during natural disasters and conflicts. When disasters like earthquakes, floods, or tsunamis strike, Khalsa Aid is often among the first organizations on the ground, distributing food, water, medical supplies, and shelter to affected populations.
