On October 29th 2024, catastrophic rainfall in eastern Spain resulted in the most destructive and brutal flash foods seen in the province of Valencia. Floods ravaged several areas and resulted in the deaths of 227 people by the end of October, with 11 people still missing. In Valencia's municipality of Catarroja, a tourist-heavy location, the death toll was 25, and suffered great damages.
The Khalsa Aid team was deployed to the flood-struck Valencian municipality of Catarroja on the 8th of November 2024 to assess the situation and provide swift aid. There, the teams distributed shovels, brooms, gloves, buckets, squeegee brooms, blankets and wellies for clean-up. These efforts extended to the municipalities of La Torre and Massanassa, where food was provided to over 200 people.
One of Khalsa Aid's primary areas of focus is providing immediate relief during natural disasters and conflicts. When disasters like earthquakes, floods, or tsunamis strike, Khalsa Aid is often among the first organizations on the ground, distributing food, water, medical supplies, and shelter to affected populations.
