Emergency food support in Coventry

Emergency food parcels

Langar Aid provides food packages to individuals in need based on referrals, and use general donations, as well as surplus food donations, to create these food parcels. These are swiftly distributed around Coventry and the West Midlands to schools, elderly homes and charities.

Who is this for?

✔ Groups and families on low income who struggle to buy food.

✔ Those struggling with the current cost of living crisis.

✔ People affected by universal credit and benefits delay.

How do I receive a food parcel?

In order to receive a food parcel, we require a referral from either a support worker or an organisation currently supporting the individual or family. The referral would be through email stating a name and contact number. We then can arrange for food parcel collection, or, if circumstances prevail, a delivery.

How can I help?

We use general donations, as well as surplus food donations, to create food parcels. Please donate what you can to Langar Aid House.

The drop-off period for donations is Monday - Friday, between 10am and 4pm. We encourage you to ring or email Langar Aid before doing so.

Donation criteria

To ensure a longer shelf-time and the sustained satisfaction of our service users, Langar Aid encourages as many non-perishable donations as possible.

What is Langar?

Langar, a free communal kitchen, is a testament to inclusivity, offering vegetarian meals to all, regardless of race, religion, or gender. The institution of Langar was started by the First Sikh Guru, Guru Nanak Dev Ji, and it champions equality, inclusivity and sharing for all humankind.

Langar Aid's history

Langar Aid, Khalsa Aid's flagship project based in the UK, is dedicated to providing food for the homeless and vulnerable across the country. Its work extends beyond the UK, providing crucial support to Khalsa Aid’s international relief missions.

The seeds for Langar Aid were sown in a family home in 2016 in Coventry, and swiftly blossomed into the impactful, compassionate project that we know it for today.
