Poverty

Building community in the UK

The problem

We recognize that homelessness and vulnerability often stem from complex issues like addiction, alcohol, and mental health. At Khalsa Aid, we support those in need through Langar Aid, providing free meals and addressing these root problems. Our focus is on building strong, enduring communities by consistently nurturing our service users.

What we're doing to help

Skill-building

Langar Aid House in Coventry is dedicated to equipping service users with essential life skills - such as cooking, cleaning and building - to help them rebuild their lives. Additionally, Langar Aid offers work experience for those participating in Duke of Edinburgh awards.

Steps for Change

Langar Aid collaborates with a multi-agency drop-in centre that addresses complex issues such as addiction, alcohol and mental health across Coventry.

Langar Aid's history

Langar Aid, Khalsa Aid's flagship project based in the UK, is dedicated to providing food for the homeless and vulnerable across the country. Its work extends beyond the UK, providing crucial support to Khalsa Aid’s international relief missions.

The seeds for Langar Aid were sown in a family home in 2016 in Coventry, and swiftly blossomed into the impactful, compassionate project that we know it for today.
