Ukraine has been in dire humanitarian crisis as a result of Russian invasion in February 2022. This situation has resulted in thousands of people being displaced, starved, and living in constant mental and physical turmoil. As far as the UK could support incoming refugees, Khalsa Aid aimed to make change directly with and initiated emergency relief response.
Khalsa Aid built its emergency relief response a week before war commenced. Within 24 hours, Khalsa Aid International dispatched 5 teams to Moldova, Romania, Hungary, Slovakia and Poland. Additionally, we established connections with local businesses, volunteers and other NGOs to bolster aid efforts.
Immediate relief fed over 2,000 people in Moldova and Ukraine within 24 hours. Mobile kitchens in Przemyśl and the Medyka border soon provided over 120,000 hot meals with volunteer help. Refugee centers and warehouses fed approximately 400-600 people daily, serving thousands of hot meals each day.

One of Khalsa Aid's primary areas of focus is providing immediate relief during natural disasters and conflicts. When disasters like earthquakes, floods, or tsunamis strike, Khalsa Aid is often among the first organizations on the ground, distributing food, water, medical supplies, and shelter to affected populations.

"From the very beginning of our operation, we built a good relationship with locals, which helped us get aid to those in need quickly and efficiently. I want to thank our dedicated team of volunteers who travelled from the US, Canada and Poland to help us provide emergency aid. This project would not have been possible without the support of our peers.”
This project supports the achievement of the following UN Sustainable Development Goals:
Caritas Internationalis is a global relief network of over 160 members working at the grassroots level in nearly every country. Caritas approached Khalsa Aid and installed a mobile kitchen at the Polish Medyka border, and helped to provide hot food to fleeing refugees.
Moldova for Peace is a non-partisan, non-profit movement created to provide assistance to refugees following the Russian invasion of Ukraine. During 2022 Ukraine relief efforts, Khalsa Aid partnered with Moldova for Peace to distribute over 2,000 aid-parcels.
METRO, a leading international food wholesaler operating in over 30 countries. During 2022, METRO aided Khalsa Aid with swift, efficient distribution of medical supplies and food, the total of which was 4,000 food parcels.
