Pandemic

Trinidad and Tobago COVID-19 Relief

Project summary

The COVID-19 pandemic left refugees and asylum-seekers in Trinidad and Tobago at an all-time high of vulnerability. Governmental measures of keeping all non-essential workers home left many persons financially burdened and unable to access the essential PPE. Funded by Khalsa Aid Canada and US, relief efforts were instrumental in reducing the spread of the virus and saving lives.

How we have helped

Our relief consisted of multiple-use items; reusable gowns, ventilators and oxygen concentrators which were used for medical purposes. The provision of these essential items helped to prevent deaths and reduce the transmission of the virus, ensuring that these persons of concern had access to basic needs and did not have to resort to negative coping mechanisms.

Impact so far

Please acknowledge that the number of beneficiaries remains unaccounted for due to the inability to comprehensively track data amidst this chaotic and rapidly evolving situation.
