In 2022, Typhoon Noru made landfall in the Philippines, causing floods and power outages across the country. More than 74,000 people had been evacuated from the typhoon's path. Khalsa Aid provided food parcels, solar lights and other essential items in the Quezon Province.
The infrastructure throughout the Philippines was damaged due to the cyclone, specifically in Quezon Province. We were able to impact this province and provide those who no longer had access to electricity with solar lights, a vital necessity that increases safety from surrounding hazards. Khalsa Aid worked to reduce food insecurity with food distributions.
One of Khalsa Aid's primary areas of focus is providing immediate relief during natural disasters and conflicts. When disasters like earthquakes, floods, or tsunamis strike, Khalsa Aid is often among the first organizations on the ground, distributing food, water, medical supplies, and shelter to affected populations.
