Under its FocusPunjab initiative, Khalsa Aid supports Punjab villages by providing and sustaining opportunities for self-employment. Ultimately, the project aims to foster self-reliance and empowerment within the women of Punjab, and to consequently reduce the pressure to migrate abroad for better opportunities. This comes in the form of vocational training in things like dairy farming, boutiques, grocery store and auto-rickshaws.
For the last three years, Khalsa Aid has provided sewing and embroidery training to rural women. We have also assisted these women in setting up their own small boutiques. This initiative instils confidence in Punjabi people and also encourages young people in villages to secure employment in various job sectors with their own specific skillsets.
This project supports the achievement of the following UN Sustainable Development Goals:
People Self=Employed
