In 2005 a major earthquake - registering 7.7 on the Richter scale - occurred in Azad Kashmir (Pakistan-administered Kashmir) and in North West Frontier Province (NWFP). The government of Pakistan’s official death toll was 79,000, while officials 1,400 also died in Indian-administered Jammu and Kashmir.
Khalsa Aid valiantly stepped in to support up to 12,000 victims of the earthquake.
Khalsa Aid teams also provided sanitation facilities in camps around Muzafrabad. The immediate priority was to stop disease spreading through lack of sanitation, as thousands were found to be huddled in small spaces with no access to such necessities. Khalsa Aid built hundreds of toilets, washrooms and cleaning facilities in Balakot, Bagh and Muzafrabad areas.

One of Khalsa Aid's primary areas of focus is providing immediate relief during natural disasters and conflicts. When disasters like earthquakes, floods, or tsunamis strike, Khalsa Aid is often among the first organizations on the ground, distributing food, water, medical supplies, and shelter to affected populations.
