Between the 27th and 28th November, a 72-hour torrential rainfall swept across Nepal during its annual monsoon season. Consequently, catastrophic flash floods impacted the capital of Kathmandu and neighbouring regions, causing landslides and riverine flooding. More than 215 people, including 35 children, were killed, with dozens declared missing.
This perilous situation demanded urgent attention, and a Khalsa Aid team was on ground from the 8th October to assess the hazardous environment, establish efficient supply provision, and chart the steps towards long-term relief for Nepal. Teams distributed rehabilitation items, including blankets, bedsheets, bathing and washing soap, sanitary pads, tarpal, mattresses and corrugated tin sheets to fortify existing shelter.
One of Khalsa Aid's primary areas of focus is providing immediate relief during natural disasters and conflicts. When disasters like earthquakes, floods, or tsunamis strike, Khalsa Aid is often among the first organizations on the ground, distributing food, water, medical supplies, and shelter to affected populations.
