Madagascar was impacted brutally by the passage of Cyclone Cheneso in January 2023. The aftermath was 26,000 displaced individuals and 13,350 damaged houses, as well as 18 medical centres and 100 classrooms. Khalsa Aid swiftly distributed consistent relief in the aftermath of the storm.
Khalsa Aid assembled a team of seven volunteers to distribute supply of food parcels for a week to the community of Morarano in Ambohibary, a rural commune in Madagascar.
Food distribution included 50kg of rice, 120 pieces of soap, and two big bags of salt.
One of Khalsa Aid's primary areas of focus is providing immediate relief during natural disasters and conflicts. When disasters like earthquakes, floods, or tsunamis strike, Khalsa Aid is often among the first organizations on the ground, distributing food, water, medical supplies, and shelter to affected populations.
