Disasters

LA Wildfires Relief

Project summary

On the 7th January, a brutal fire ravaged through parts of Los Angeles. Uncontained for days at a time, the death toll increases, homes have been destroyed and 180,000 residents have been evacuated. Khalsa Aid USA deployed a team of volunteers residing in LA to distribute water, food and care for victims of the fires, as well as first responders to the disaster.

What we are doing

In the initial 36 hours, Khalsa Aid US worked to foster relations with recreational and community centres to understand what relief was required. These centres distribute basic necessities to evacuees and victims of the fires. Recruiting dozens of volunteers, the team has delivered pallets of water, hundreds of meals, feminine hygiene products, blankets and pillows, and hundreds of over-the-counter medical products for all ages.

Impact so far

Please acknowledge that a significant portion of beneficiaries remains unaccounted for due to the inability to comprehensively track data amidst this rapidly evolving situation.
