There are multiple emergency healthcare systems in Botswana. While this may be considered a good thing practically, local healthcare officials have reported an increased need for disability support caused by a rise in communicable and non-communicable diseases.
Khalsa Aid's deployment in the villages of Nata and Francistown facilitated greater awareness and education about disabilities amidst crises, while also providing practical solutions through its wheelchair delivery project.
Khalsa Aid was therefore contacted regarding the provision of wheelchairs in the rural community of Nata. Khalsa Aid organised 30 wheelchairs, all in varying sizes, to be delivered at Nata Clinic.
15 in total were delivered directly to mobility-restricted patients, while the remaining 15 are set to be distributed at a later date. Meanwhile, our team formed key partnerships with Francistown Rotary Club and Francistown Academic Hospital for future support.
“You have made a big change and touched the lives of our physically challenged clients with something they have been yearning for, for years and years.”
Khalsa Aid conducts on-ground assessments to identify urgent needs and collaborates with local authorities and partners to streamline efforts. Their mission prioritises rapid response while fostering long-term recovery.
