Heavy rainfall in September 2024 culminated into catastrophic floods in northern Bangladesh. Floodwaters gushed down from elevated areas and submerged the low-lying districts, particularly Lalmonirhat and Kurigram. The impact of the floods was felt most severely in rural areas, where families rely on agriculture for their subsistence.
In collaboration with It's Humanity Foundation (IHF), Khalsa Aid responded swiftly in Kurigam, Lalmonirhat and Begomganj and efficiently provided critical relief to the affected families. Each supply package was sufficient to last for over 2 weeks, and included food and medical products, and hygiene essentials such as water purification tablets, mosquito nets and disinfectants. For many Bangladeshi families, the relief packages were a lifeline during a time of great uncertainty following the loss of homes and crops.
One of Khalsa Aid's primary areas of focus is providing immediate relief during natural disasters and conflicts. When disasters like earthquakes, floods, or tsunamis strike, Khalsa Aid is often among the first organizations on the ground, distributing food, water, medical supplies, and shelter to affected populations.
