In 2021, Khalsa Aid's Langar Aid project was honored with the prestigious Queen's Award for Voluntary Service, the highest award given to volunteer groups in the UK. Langar Aid, inspired by the Sikh tradition of Langar—providing free meals to all—was recognized for its outstanding contribution to community service.

We are incredibly proud to announce that our Langar Aid team has been honored with the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service. This prestigious recognition is the highest accolade granted to volunteer groups across the UK, celebrating exceptional contributions to local communities.

‘Langar’ is a concept established by Guru Nanak Dev Ji, first guru of the Sikhs. It is a communal kitchen set up to provide food to all people, regardless of background, ethnicity, religious beliefs, gender or social status.

“We really want to do our best to help stamp out hunger in our communities, therefore we must work together to support the less fortunate, there is nothing more rewarding then providing a meal to a hungry person.”

– Avtar Kaur, Langar Aid Coordinator.

We look forward to growing and developing work across the UK in the coming months and years.

We thank all our donors and supporters for their continued support and faith in us.
