Khalsa Aid International has installed solar panels at the Courageous Kids Foundation in Malawi, bringing sustainable electricity to a children’s care centre that is home to more than 90 children.

The Courageous Kids Foundation is a community care centre dedicated to supporting and uplifting orphaned and vulnerable children through access to education, healthcare and safe shelter. After identifying the urgent need for a reliable and cost-effective energy solution, Khalsa Aid stepped in to install solar panels that will significantly reduce electricity expenses and improve daily life for the children.

By cutting dependence on costly and unstable electricity, the foundation can now redirect funds towards improving living conditions, learning facilities, food supplies and overall infrastructure. The installation not only ensures consistent access to electricity but also creates a safer, more stable environment for the children to learn, grow and thrive.

Beyond financial relief, the shift to clean renewable energy also serves as a powerful educational opportunity. The children now gain first hand exposure to sustainability and environmental responsibility, helping shape a more conscious and informed generation.

Impact of the Solar Panel Installation

The solar energy system will directly benefit the children in the following ways:

  • Reliable electricity with fewer power cuts, allowing uninterrupted learning
  • Reduced operational costs, freeing funds for food, healthcare and education
  • Safe and consistent lighting for reading, studying, playing and daily activities
  • Stronger focus on education for better long-term opportunities

The solar panels offer a long-term solution to Malawi’s unpredictable power supply. With the addition of solar batteries as a backup energy source, the centre now has dependable power even during outages. Most importantly, the children now experience greater safety, stability and comfort in their daily lives.
