In April 2021, India became the cynosure of the COVID pandemic. At the height of the second wave in April, the daily number of new cases often exceeded 400,000. This caused a severe shortage in medical supplies across the country, particularly oxygen concentrators.
Over 370,000 COVID cases were reported by India in May 2021, along with up to 4,000 new deaths. This is the highest number of fatalities in a single day in the world's second most-populous nation.
As a result, Khalsa Aid were resolute in aiding the people of India.
In April 2021, at least 200 boxes of oxygen concentrators were collected by Khalsa Aid following a flood of generous donations by the British public. This equipment was swiftly transported with help by Virgin Atlantic, by senior first officer pilot Jas Singh.
