UCL Sikh Society Annual Langar
The students at UCL have been organising an annual Langar for the last 3 years. This initiative is a shining example of Sikh youth promoting our Sikh values.
The community Langar is held on the campus of UCL and is also used as an event to raise awareness of Sikh values and identity.
Khalsa Aid is actively supporting this venture so that these young Sikhs will be further motivated to continue this good work.
The Langar or free kitchen was started by the first Sikh Guru, Guru Nanak Dev Ji.
It is designed to uphold the principle of equality between all people of the world regardless of religion, caste, colour, creed, age, gender or social status.
In addition to the ideals of equality, the tradition of Langar expresses the ethics of sharing, community, inclusiveness and oneness of all humankind.
It is very heart-warming to see our youth promoting this value of Sikhism in this way.
We hope these young Sikhs continue on the path of selfless Seva through out their lives.
Come along to show your support
Langar is from 10am - 4pm on 27th November 2009 at the South Cloisters, Main Building, on Gower Street London.
