Our Thirteenth Mission

Panjab - Floods Relief Proagram

Tens of thousands of people in Panjab have been affected by the catastrophic floods in the recent weeks. Many villages have suffered immense economic hardship and loss of basic living conditions. Over 134 villages, 11080 hectares of standing crop and 55000 people in the Ferozpur have been affected.

Khalsa Aid has been supplying food rations (flour, rice, lentils, cooking oil, salt and spices), blankets, bed sheets and underclothing to the effected people in and around Ferozpur area. We have also sent Sewadars to the surrounding areas to source clean drinking water as some of the local supplies have been polluted by the flood waters.

The situation in some areas has deteriorated due to the banks of the rivers and canals breaking again and flooding the villages for the second time in 6 weeks! This is very distressing and disheartening for many people who were planning to return to their houses and to start the clean up. The situation for many struggling families before the floods wasn't very good but is now extremely bleak. The real struggle for most of these people will begin when the water has gone and they have to clean up and in some cases rebuild their houses. The farmlands in these areas have been devastated and it will take time before any crops can be sown and harvested. Khalsa Aid will carry out further assessments to identify the long term needs of the effected people.

PLEASE DONATE GENEROUSLY TO HELP THE PANJABI PEOPLE, THEY NEED YOU NOW
