Current Mission

Displaced Sikhs in Pakistan, May 2009

Khalsa Aid continues to provide relief to the Sikh and Hindu refugees at Panja Sahib Gurdwara, Pakistan. The refugees requested Khalsa Aid to provide them with washing powder, soap and toothpaste etc. The purchase of these items was made through a donation to Khalsa Aid from a Sikh lady and her family in London who wanted the money spent directly on provisions for the refugees. The lady Manjit Kaur said " I wanted to do something for the refugees in a real and practical way so my donation is used to purchase much needed everyday items ." Khalsa Aid has a local independent representative in Islamabad who was despatched to buy the required items from Rawalpindi.

The refugees were very pleased and thankful to the Sangat for their continued support and pray that they are not forgotten in their time of need. Khalsa Aid has also booked an appointment at a specialist hospital for 9 year old Sikh refugee Amritpal Singh who we hope may be able to use his legs again.

Khalsa Aid will continue to monitor the needs of the refugees and will work with the local Pakistani Sikhs to assure the refugees in Panja Sahib are safe and secure. We are also grateful to the Pakistani government for their support and assistance for the refugees at Panja Sahib.
