Six Gurudwaras in Nottingham raised £5150. for Haiti appeal.

The sangat at Guru Nanak Gurdawara Sedgley street in Wolverhampton raised £10,001. For Khalsa Aids Haiti appeal, this donation was further boosted by The local Territorial Army, the Mercian unit who donated £200, and a local business man Mr Joginder Singh Domola who donated £710. We congratulate the committee at this gurdawara on the excellent links they established have within the community.



Sri Guru Arjan Dev Gurudwara, Sri Guru Singh Sabha Gurudwara, Sri Ramgraiah Sahib and Sri Guru Ravidass Gurudawara fund raise for Khalsa Aid. Derby Sangat collectively raises £8400.00 for Khalsa Aid.
We thank and congratulate the Gurudwara committees in Derby on the unity they have shown with all 4 gurudwaras joining together to support Khalsa Aid. We are further motivated by thier wonderful support.


Parmjit Mokha is ready to go to Haiti

Paramjit has volunteered 2 weeks out of her busy life as a social worker to go over to Haiti and help out with the Khalsa Aid relief efforts that have been initiated. Paramjit has been fund raising in her local community, The Sikh Union Hockey Club based in Coventry have donated £1000.00 towards Khalsa Aids Hiati appeal.

KHALSA AID (USA) PLEDGES $35,000 RELIEF
Two containers of 40 tonnes each containing food / medical aid is arriving from New Jersey from Khalsa Aid (USA). Mandeep Singh Khalsa will be coordinating from Santo Domingo and working with the local partners established both in Haiti and the Dominican Republic to facilitate rapid transport of aid to the areas most afflicted by the devastation. Mandeep Singh will travel to the Dominican Republic with "FNJD" - a Haitian organisation with 160 volunteers including 52 doctors - and he will also work with Rhasade - an organisation with 15 nurses and 2 doctors - to receive the shipments.

Khalsa Aid (USA) has promised further financial assistance to purchase whatever else is needed for the local partners and the Khalsa Aid (UK) team working in the field. This financial support currently extends to $35,000. Khalsa Aid (USA) is also sending a further 2 logistical support coordinators to ensure that deliveries reach the people as quickly as possible. They have also provided funds for a further delivery of three 700-gallon (3 x 3182 litres) and four 450-gallon (4 x 2046 litres) water tanks with deliveries being arranged three times a week.

The Sangat at the Sikh Temple on Chapel Town Road in Leeds donated £2000.00 to Khalsa Aids Haiti Appeal.

The Sangat at Guru Nanak Gurdawara in Holy Bones Leicester has raised £1000.00 for the Khalsa Aid Haiti appeal.

The children at Ruislip Gardens Primary school collected toothpaste, soaps and dried foods that have been sent Haiti by Khalsa Aid.

Hayden school in Harrow collect goods for Haiti.

Sikh Channel commends the efforts of the Khalsa Aid Team in Haiti. We shall continue to publicise the benevolent actions of Khalsa Aid to our viewers, who in return have been showing their support. We are proud of Khalsa Aid for representing the Sikh community in Haiti.

Shepherdsbush Kirtan on the 30th of January where a Keertan was organised by The British Sikh Student Federation at The Central Gurdwara (Khalsa Jatha) London. £690.00 was raised for Khalsa Aid's Project in Haiti.

Nanaksar Gurdawara in Southall (UK) has pledged a 40 foot container full of children’s books and schooling resources to be distributed by Khalsa Aid in Haiti.

A Thank you to the sangat and the committee of Singh Sabha Gurdawara in Reading, who have donated £1500.00 to Khalsa Aids Haiti appeal.

Sloughs Sikh Community and the children/parents/staff at Khalsa Primary School have collected hundreds of toothbrushes, tooth paste tubes, soap bars, wet wipes, blankets and sleeping bags for the victims of the Haiti earthquake. Khalsa School started the appeal last week and tommorow is the last day for all to bring in the required items. we have had an overwellming responce. The children at the school on Wexham Road also did a special assembly and did a prayer for all the ones who died during the devasstating earthquake and for thousands of people who have been left homeless.

All the items collected will be given to the Slough based charity Khalsa Aid who will transport the goods to Haiti. Ravinder Singh and Mandeep Singh of Khalsa Aid have flown to Haiti last Sunday. The three principles of the Sikh faith that the Sikh Gurus told Sikhs to do is Naam Japna- Meditate on the one and only Almighty, Kirath Karni- Work Hard with your own hands and Vand Ke Shakna- Share your earnings with the needy. The children at Khalsa Primary School are always taught the three Golden Rules of the Gurus.

School trustee Onkar Singh would like to thank all the community for coming together in the time of need for the people of Haiti.
