Current Mission

Guru Nanak Clinic

Khalsa Aid has been supported by our local partners in Haiti, FNJD and OMS to initiate mobile medical clinics to provide medical aid to those affected by the recent earthquake. These clinics are being held in Gressier a remote area situated amongst hills and mountains. Gressier has been very badly hit by the earthquake. Many of those that are receiving medical aid from these clinics are actually unable to travel to get medical assistance so are extremely grateful that the aid has been bought to them.

Mandeep Singh Khalsa has just returned from Haiti and has been involved in setting up this clinic "The issues around not being able to travel for medical aid were bought to my attention when I was delivering crutches to 4 of the survivors (2 of them with significant amputations). I was told by the medical team that in the case of 2 of the amputations, there would have been NO need for amputations had the victims been seen in 2-3 days following their injury, as they had had to wait for over 2 weeks for medical treatment there was no option other than amputation." Mandeep adds "In a country with no social welfare, these people will be finding it very difficult to survive. As one lady said she did not know if the rest of the family had survived or not as they lived in Port au Prince and she was located elsewhere for her work as a nurse".

The Doctors that are treating patients in these clinics are all working on a volunteer basis, alongside local Drs in Haiti. A great deal of the medications and medical equipment such as crutches etc is being flown in free by Air Canada in conjunction with the Canadian charity 1x1. We thank all the agencies involved in making this work possible.

It is only with the wonderful support that Khalsa Aid has received from the sangat both in UK and the USA that we have been able to provide this support to those that are most in need at this time. These clinics will continue to operate in Gressier for the foreseeable future, with an aim to treat all those in medical need.

Recognise all of the human race as one.
